Myerberg Center Temporarily Closed (Updated 7.21.20)
Dear Members and Guests,
We hope you are staying well during these challenging times. It has been many months since the Governor signed an Executive Order to close senior centers. At this time, this order remains in effect. As a community center located in Baltimore City, we also continue to follow the Mayor’s order. Despite the temporary closing of our building, our staff and instructors are working remotely and providing virtual programming and wellness checks to our 55+ community. If we can be of any assistance to you, please don’t hesitate to call us at 410-358-6856. We are here for you!
The Myerberg is currently providing over 40 weekly virtual programs, tech support and one-on-one fitness training to 900+ weekly participants. We welcome you to join our live programs and take advantage of over 140 on-demand class videos. Our participants are finding comfort in these programs. In fact, one student said, “[The class] not only makes me feel better physically, but because you can see the gallery view of the participants, one feels a little bit more connected and it does make you realize there are a lot more people out there doing the same thing (hiding out).” We welcome you to explore our Virtual Center! If you need technical help getting started, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have received several email inquiries about the reopening of our building. At this time, we do not know when our building will reopen, but we will continue to update you as we receive additional details from the Governor and Mayor’s offices. We have also received emails from students, requesting access to their artwork and supplies. For the health and safety of our staff, instructors and students, our building remains closed and we are unable to provide access at this time. We are also unable to provide curb-side pickup of artwork and supplies. We serve over 80 art students and we do not want to risk the loss or damage to students’ belongings. When we are in a position to reopen our Center, we will work with students to retrieve their supplies and artwork. At this time, our policy remains in effect until further notice. We thank you for your understanding.
Myerberg, CHAI and the Associated are working together on tentative plans to reopen our Center; we will follow the CDC’s guidelines, as well as local government regulations and guidance. The health and safety of our members is our highest priority. It is for this reason that we will take every precaution necessary to ensure a safe reentry into our building and to our Center’s programs. We thank you for your support and patience during these unprecedented times and look forward to seeing you at our virtual programs!
Please continue to check your email and our website for updates. We thank you for your patience as we navigate this ever-changing situation.
