The Maryland Association for Parkinson Support, Inc. (MAPS) is happy to announce that The Edward A. Myerberg Center will be starting a MAPS funded Parkinson’s Dance class at no charge (like ALL MAPS programs) on March 4. Research shows that dance can be especially beneficial for those with mild to moderate Parkinson’s Disease. Dance appears to be very helpful in improving gait and balance in Parkinson’s patients. It also can provide social stimulation and support, which can be helpful in reducing depression and improving quality of life. Plus, dance stimulates cognitive functioning, an area that PD patients often struggle with. The combination of movement to music can be powerful. Classes will be held on Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. and Fridays at 12:00 p.m., beginning March 4 at the Myerberg Center. Please call 443-963-1455 for more information.
