Mary Mayhew
Art and Yoga Instructor
“For me, art is like prayer insomuch as beseeches us to take a moment to acknowledge the wonder of life by reflecting a glimpse of the earth’s incredible beauty and mystery.”
In addition to independent research and experimentation, Mary Mayhew has studied art in universities, in commercial environments under master artists and superb craftsmen, as well as notable restoration artists where she was privileged to study historical paintings up close. She has owned and operated an art studio, Mary McHugh & Associates since 1984, and was acknowledged by Baltimore Magazine as being Baltimore’s Best Illusionist due to trompe l’oeil (fool the eye) murals as well as winning an award for her work from Schuler School of Fine Arts. Mary’s work has ranged from large murals to portraits and it has been published in Southern Accents, Home and Garden Magazine, Baltimore Magazine, as well as the New York Times Arts Section.
In addition to creating classical-style paintings, Mary also produces a line of eglomise paintings that combine abstract and expressionistic art.

For Yoga:
Mary Mayhew has been practicing yoga since 1974. As a licensed yoga instructor and a member of Yoga Alliance, she enjoys making yoga fun while retaining focus and engaging in challenges while remaining cautious since injury is not health-promoting. The Myerberg Chair Yoga class is a no-pain, no-strain practice that emphasizes balance, strength and flexibility in a way that respects each individual's needs, strengths and limitations.
